Brockton is looking at their current dog ordinances. It would be a very strong step for Brockton as a whole if they continue to enforce dog laws that encompass all of their constituent. Making every dog owner liable for the conduct, care and behavior of their animals.
As a responsible dog owner I am all in favor of strict, enforceable, GENERIC dog laws. If I choose to own a Poodle or a Bull Mastiff is my decision, and should never be delegated to the whims of council. What is also my decision becomes my responsibility. If it is my Poodle or Bull Mastiff that bites/ terrorizes or otherwise threatens the public, I should be held responsible not my dog-whom is acting in accordance to his training/upbrining.
I urge the Council members to enact an ordinance that holds all dog owners responsible regardless of breed. Only then will the public be safe from nuisance / dangerous dogs.
It may intrest the readers to know I do not own either a Poodle or Bull Mastiff.
I would urge them all to encourage their officials to support generic dog laws and not breed specific legislation or ban.
Mary Degon-Pelletier

** Comment as posted elsewhere on citytowninfo.com **
