While living in Pueblo several years ago, I often heard a term that seemed to refer to persons of Slavic decent. It was not used negatively, but only descriptively, as far as I could tell. I am not sure of the spelling, but it may have been “Beau John”. The reference was to persons living among the employees at CF&I in the earlier part of the 20th century.

Does anyone know the origin of this term and correct spelling? Again the pronunciation was like “bow” in ‘bow and arrow” and the name "John".
