Detroit is a city that is very much filled with crime and high taxes. The school systems are useless. Everyone sends their kids to private schools and they are not good either. I was born and raised in detroit and it used to be a florishing, vibrant city in it's day. People were neighborly and the big three was a major entity of the city that provided jobs for people. Motown was there as well and the city was something to be proud of. Detroit has experienced a string of rotten mayors that Have added to the cities problems. Detroit continues to build up downtown with expensive condo's, ice skate parks, boardwalks etc but who is going to move there when crime is right in the midst of it all? The downtown area is filled with the homeless, criminals, poverty etc. Detroit would be a lot better if the city could curtail its criminal element, but it won't/can't. M parents home is in an exclusive area of the city and everyone in our family has been robbed at one time or another right on the front porch while entering the door. My dad walks around with two hand guns on him at all times and has video monitors and security gates all around his home. He carries his pistols with him when he goes to the market, cvs, etc Our family home is beautiful but it is not worth getting your cars stolen right out of the driveway. I wish he would move. It is sad but, Detroit reminds me of a dungeon. :(

How is Detroit laid out?
In the Metro-Washington DC area, we talk geographically when talking about what happens. Saturday night news talked about shootings in northeast or northwest or southeast or southwest DC. Or the cities around, although the cities are in different counties of either Virginia or Maryland. Now the new crimewave is syphoning gas out of your tank. :o Gas is at $3.61 per gallon when I last saw it.
Are the police undermanned? Are there more criminals?
There is heavy poverty here also when one loses employment or they lose their homes because of Adjustable Rate Mortgages. People and some county governments are frustrated with the illegal immigrant population too.
What are the exclusive areas in the Detroit area?
Sincerely,
Smile Eyes
