What happened to this town? Where were all the voters on election day!!!

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place, but my husband and I are planning to retire next year and have found property on Shaw Rd in Wales MA. Does anyone have any advice, words of wisdom, etc. about Wales. The property borders Brimfield State Forest on the back and across the street. We come from suburban NY and were wondering if we should be worried about bears.
