Hi There! I'm looking for information about the Winnsboro, Texas area because I'm thinking of buying a property there just outside of town. I will have my daughter and 13 year old grandson living with me and I need to know if it is a good, safe place for him to grow up in and whether the people there accept newcomers or are stand-offish, etc. We are nice, regular, everyday kind of people, looking for a good place to live and raise a child. I currently live in Oregon and while I love it I am tired of the rain. I need sun! However, it is hard to research other areas when you can't afford to go everywhere you are interested in and investigate it in person. (I have to pick & choose places that look worth investigating online). How is the weather and will I have to worry unduly about drugs and gangs, etc? I would be very grateful for any help I can get. I use to go to Winnsboro to do work at the hospital there.  Everyone I met there were very friendly and the town has a very small town feel about it.  I would not mind living there.
