As of October 15th, 2007 the townspeople of Kimberly and Morris, Alabama are in an ongoing dispute with representatives of Drummond Coal and RJR Mining concerning proposed surface mining. According to the attendance at last nights meeting, the community stands in full agreement that this practice is not wanted nor would it be acceptable to allow this in the area. Debate and vote to be continued in public meeting on November 13, 2007. If you live in or around Kimberly, please attend.
