Naugatuck is a great town to live in with an incredible future.
Naugatuck is one of only nine boroughs in the state of Connecticut. It became a borough in 1844. One of the differences between a borough and a city or town is the title of the elected officials. Naugatuck does not have councilors or aldermen: the town leaders are called burgesses. The elected mayor is the chief executive of the Borough.
Naugatuck is a small town with many large town amenities. There are parks, playgrounds, walking trail, bridle trail, biking & hiking trails, pools, a beach, a skating park, ponds & rivers for fishing, and playgrounds. There are also basketball courts, tennis courts, softball, baseball and basketball courts; there are walking tracks, football fields, a hockey deck, soccer fields, volleyball courts, and softball fields.
The community hosts fairs, festivals, races, holiday festivities, dances, dinners, concerts, readings and many other functions on a routine basis.
There are lots of banks, antique shops, boutiques, sports stores, photography studios, salons, barber shops, gyms, delis, pizzerias, florists, dollar stores, pharmacies, 3 major name supermarkets, car dealerships, pet shops, coffee shops, diners, sit-down restaurants, fast-food restaurants, pubs, a hotel, Wal-Mart, Blockbuster Video, The Railroad Museum of New England, The Naugatuck Senior Center and so much more.
The Naugatuck Historical Society brings together people who are interested in history, and especially in the history of Naugatuck. Naugatuck's Howard Whitmore Library offers story times, toddler groups, and author readings. The YMCA offers everything from classes and day care to exercise and swimming.  The Naugatuck Rotary hosts golf tournaments, a bicycle race, wine-tasting fundraisers, a literacy program and many other programs. Naugatuck police Department has the Naugatuck Police Explorers Post 882.
Some town organizations in Naugatuck are: AARP, Naugatuck Chapter, American Association of University Women, Naugatuck Chapter, American Legion Post #17, American Legion Auxiliary Unit #17, American Red Cross, Naugatuck Chapter, Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH), (Naugatuck) Arts Commission, Catholic War Veterans, Girl Scouts of America, Boy Scouts of America, (Naugatuck) Chamber of Commerce, Elks Lodge #967, Exchange Club, Naugatuck Chapter, (Naugatuck) Garden Club, Knights of Columbus, Naugatuck Chapter, Lions Club, Pollution Extermination Group, Inc., Readers Theatre, Special Olympics (Naugatuck), Veterans Council of Naugatuck, and (Naugatuck) Youth Services.
There is some bus service and train service, carpool lots, direct access to Route 8 and easy access to I-84. Naugatuck is centrally located within driving distance to Bridgeport (40 minutes), Waterbury (5 minutes), New Haven (30 minutes) and Hartford (25 minutes).
Naugatuck is a town for everyone!
