The local figures put forth by the current city administration is exxagerated and inflated to make it look like the town has a lot of progressive growth, when in reality it bases all it's economy on one business...Cabela's. 40 years ago, the population of Sidney was 8,000. Since then, it has lost almost 2,000 people, and yet, the city boasts tremendous economic growth, which simply is not true.
