Ocala is a very nice place to live. The horse farms, which are few now a days, the quiet neighborhoods. The only thing is the jobs available in Ocala and the pay scale. Alot of homes are up for foreclosure, because the young start out and purchase a home, without realizing the responsiblities of owning and the money it cost to own. Many do not make enough money here to be able to afford a home, and start a family. Alot of jobs do not offer medical insurance and that is pricey, yet many go without.  Another problem is they do not offer Senior, with low incomes, independent apartments based on their income. Many seniors do not have much, living on their social security. The independent facilities are privately owned and cost over $2000.00 a month. How does a senior living on a fixed income afford such a place. A place that offers them meal or two, has amenties, such as bingo, red hats, crafts, entertainment. So these people on a fixed income are forced to live on their own, without friends, activities, etc. I would love to see a builder, or the state build independent housing for seniors on a fixed income and based their housing on their income. Many states have this, queensbury, n.y. for one. My aunt lives in a facility that is absolutely wonderful for her. She has alot of friends, clubs to join and lunch is served everyday. I think Ocala, needs to take a look into this, being their population here is seniors and alot of them are living on fixed incomes. How about it Ocala, help those in need of help.
