Career Survey - Donations to Benefit American Red Cross

1. Your E-mail Address

OPTIONAL. We ask for your e-mail address for the purpose of following up on any answers that need clarification. We will keep such contact to a minimum. Your e-mail address will not be published or shared with any third party.


2. Job Title

Examples: "Tax Accountant", "Pediatric Nurse", "Product Marketing Manager", "CEO of small business".


3. Post Secondary Education List colleges, career/trade schools, universities attended and degrees obtained. If you did not attend school beyond high school, enter "none".

4. Previous Experience Briefly list previous relevant jobs that led to your current one.

Example 1: "I worked as a staff nurse in the neo-natal ICU after college in two different hospitals. I then worked in a pediatrician's office for a few years starting my current job"

Example 2: "I started as a production engineer for a large telecommnuications manufacturer before moving into systems engineering for the same company. I then was a sales engineer and regional sales manager for a small, growing telecom company."


5. Detailed Job Description (minimum 250 words). This should be as specific as possible supported by examples so as to provide a real sense of what happens in the job. A few things you may want to touch on and other notes:

  • What your company does (briefly)
  • Typical tasks/projects of a typical day (or week or month)
  • How much of the day is spent on essential vs. administrative tasks
  • If you do not have a typical day, describe a few different types of days or tasks or a typical project that you may work on.
  • Travel, if it's a significant part of your job
  • Remember that your target audience consists of young adults and career changers who probably know little about your line of work
  • The best responses are ones that do not read like corporate job descriptions but instead read like "A Day in the Work Life of You"

Tip Example 1: "As painful as it may be, take as many courses as you can in data structures"
Tip Example 2: "When starting to launch your acting career, consider doing voice-overs - they are a little easier to get than other jobs and they help build your resume and experience".
